Setting Up Calculated Shipping

Do not EVER use the Shipping Buzzard.   It has many issues, most of which don't work.   The ones that do work, don't work correctly.   Correctly calculating postage is one of the functions that does NOT work in the Shipping Buzzard.

In order to use the calculated shipping, you need to be using the full-optioned listing format. If you use the "keep it simple" format" your only option is flat rate shipping.

First, make sure you've selected carriers from the add/remove options.   If you don't ship international, de-select it.

Save.

Then select "calculated" from the first dropdown.   In some instances, there won't be a dropdown but there will be a link to "display all options".   Click that link and the dropdown will appear.

Select the package size (package/flat envelope will work for most shipping).   Remember, YOU need to know if your package is oversize or is non-machinable, which puts it in a different category.   The calculator works based on what YOU input, so if you select wrong, it will calculate wrong.

Then input weight.   Fill in BOTH weight boxes.   If it's 8 ounces, fill in zero pounds 8 ounces.   USPS changed their way of doing things and now requires both boxes to be filled in.   And don't believe that the pre-filled in zeros will register correctly because they don't always register.   Input BOTH weights yourself.

Un-check the "FREE" shipping box.

Select your service.   The first one is the one that shows in searches, so most sellers will use the cheapest in that position.   You can show up to 3 different services.

If one of your services is Priority Mail, input the dimensions of the package, length/height/width.   No, it doesn't matter in which order you put them, although I usually use length/height/width order because that's how USPS has them.   Do not input girth.

If you have insurance as optional or as required, that amount will automatically be added in search shipping prices.   Click the change link to make changes for insurance and for handling charges.

In the Location area, click the Change location link to make sure your ship-from zip code is correct.
